Guy Troupe

VP – Football

Guy H. Troupe graduated from Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Booker T. Washington High School and received undergraduate (Magna Cum Laude) and graduate degrees from Howard University. He has completed coursework towards his doctorate in Organizational Development and Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University. Troupe, a former college football student-athlete at Howard and Wichita State University, is known throughout amateur and professional athletics as an authority and thought leader in the area of athlete development (e.g. career transition, character development, life skills, life coaching, behavior management, etc.).

Troupe’s professional career began as a substance abuse educator for the District of Columbia Public Schools. He served as a youth counselor and group home director for Associated Catholic Charities prior to launching a career in athletics as a compliance services intern for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Troupe worked six years as an NCAA enforcement representative making significant contributions in the areas of parent and prospective student-athlete education, cultivation of sources, and processing of major infractions cases. He also led several human resource functions including Team NCAA, an internal organizational change initiative.  

Troupe left the NCAA to join the National Football League (NFL) as the league’s Director of Player Programs. He was tasked with the challenge of designing and managing player development initiatives for all 32 NFL teams. Troupe was promoted to senior director after 18 months and provided with oversight of all phases of personnel management, program development, and evaluation of the NFL’s career transition, player assistance, and training and development programs. Highlights of his NFL tenure include three promotions; design and delivery of the NFL Rookie Symposium curriculum; co-designer of NFL Club Life Skills; Chair of the Player Development Steering Committee; selection as the inaugural Chair of the NFL’s Corporate Diversity Council; co-founder of the Professional Association of Athlete Development Specialist; and the first-ever recipient of NFL Player Development’s Commitment to Service and Excellence Award.

Troupe–the founder and owner of the Player Networking Event and Troupe21 & Associates—works with corporations interested in athlete development, large sports organizations (e.g. NFL, NBA, NCAA, professional football teams, major colleges, etc.) and  currently manages the NFL Alumni’s Career and Business Program.

Known for his ability to design, develop and innovative human capital management initiatives in sports, Troupe has served as the architect of the NCAA Big Brother/Big Sister Program and NCAA Operation Intercept, NCAA Advanced and Expert Coaching Programs, NFL/NCAA Life Skills Speakers Bureau, NFL Career Transition Program, NFL High School Coaching Program, NFL Europe Coaching and Administration Program, NFL Veteran Co-Facilitation Program, NFL Credit Management Program, and the NFL Diversity Mentoring and Internship Program (now known as the Junior Rotational Program). He is the founder of Building Empowerment-Zones through Education and Sports (BEES, Inc.); co-founder of the Professional Association of Athlete Development Specialist (PAADS); and curriculum advisor for Sound Mind Sound Body Football.

Troupe, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, enjoys travel, chess, poetry, and volunteering for youth development causes.
